THERE ARE NO HEROES

“In the face of pain, there are no heroes.”
-George Orwell

there are no heroes

I walk through a blood filled land.

A battlefield full of screams, tears—

No one can hear me crying here.

I scream out that I would die for you.

Amongst the chaos, I am still alone.

Bodies rise and fall around me,

yet no one seems to see me walking.

Is it too late to save my very soul?

The earthquake rattles the land; fall.

No. The bombs tear apart the ground.

The earth rises up and swallows me whole.

I wake to the same scene, yet again.

Puddles of blood and haunting screams.

There I stand alone in Gods war on hell.

Who is left to pray for me?

Is there any love left in me?

Is it too late for my soul?

It’s not the rapture and I’m not Christ.

Just a mortal man fighting a war—

A war he cannot win or prevent.

So I stand ready for this path again.

Ready to take my own life for this pain.

The blood increases with every reset.

Puddles turn to seas. Seas to oceans.

Each march through bodies and gore

that weigh me down further with each step

and my inner self dies with it; I weep.

Among the dying and the living,

is there anyone who will save my soul?

I fight myself. I fight the world. I fight all.

I’m alone, so no one will pray for me.

Sacrifice is the verdict as I give up my heart.

Heroes don’t live, so they cannot die.

So there’s no one to come save my soul.

If someone were to come along this path;

Don’t pray me for.

Kill me and take away this pain,

finally adding my own to this blood ocean.

Broken

bos

She is still broken into parts,

but there is nowhere to hide.

Both her mind and her heart,

were crushed ‘fore I came.

She tries to run, she tries to hide—

Pushing me away at times,

even when I reach out to help.

So astonishingly beautiful,

yet so severely damaged within.

He lived only to serve himself,

leaving her just an empty shell.

I swear my love to her to be pure—

Can my words really be true?

I see it all in her tender eyes—

Wondering to herself in silence,

if I will repeat his mistakes.

I want to glue her pieces back,

but she looks right through me—

“Don’t ever think you know me,”

she says in frustration, and yet…

I stay by her side through the storm.

My heart carries zero doubt.

Together, we will repair her heart.

The Weeping Poet

A writer is depressed.

His words are depression.

His art is his life.

His metaphors mask sorrow.

Wordplay hides his cries.

The audience applauds.

He flips his frown,

but only on the surface.

One mask, two faces.

He cries in black ink.

His cries are silent,

but his words are loud.

The weeping poet;

Hiding behind his art.

Love is An Army

love over hate

To all of my people, it’s love I embrace.

Together, we can defeat all this hate.

Grab a hold and pull the youth along.

Kiss our mothers and tell them, “be strong.”

Stronger together than we ever are apart.

Embrace differences, that’s where we start.

We can rise because we know what it takes,

and in this harsh world, we know the stakes.

Hates breed’s violence, breeding more death.

Cease the fairy tales cause this is no Macbeth.

Revenge just creates a vicious cycle we get pulled in,

and so we pray that one day soon it’ll all end.

We can take fate into our own hands right now.

This is our world and the animosity, we will not allow.

Lets thank our mamas and get warmed up.

Come together, unify and form up.

An invincible army of love emerges from darkness.

We will not submit to evil, that I promise.

Only God Knows

Only God knows

They say life goes on, but you’re not here?

My grandmother tells me that only God knows;

so I want to see that man and ask him why.

I’m upset and your memories are with me still.

I didn’t even get to see you out or say goodbye.

I’m left asking why, but only God knows.

Seeking a response but my calls go unanswered.

They tell me that I have to move on,

but I’ll never get a call or visit from you again.

I go to your home, but you’re not there.

Knock on the door for days, but no one comes out.

Why did you have to leave me here alone?

I will never hear you laugh again.

Never come to you for advice in the dead of night.

Never laugh at your attempts to dance or be smooth.

Why did a true friend have to end up gone?

Only God knows.

Come Enjoy It With Me

You-Only-Live-Once-What-Does-That-Mean-To-You1-733x440

If you see me drinking like I have no J-O-B,

grab a cup, come over and join me.

The moon is out and we are not giving a shit.

Sorry to get a little vulgar, but here’s a tip—

Life is too short to not smile and take it all in.

It’ll be too late for regrets when it comes to an end.

If you see some good bourbon; yes that’s on me.

We’re all adults, so no need for a referee.

Have a beer, take some shots and be a peace.

It’s a celebration and we’re dancing in the streets.

You’re all beautiful people to me and I love thee.

So get here because you have till the count of three.

Every second later is yet another hug when you arrive.

You only get one life, as there is no test-drive.

So come and experience it with yours truly.

Together, we can love, say a prayer and get unruly.

Truths & Lies

truths-and-lies

She wanted to sing me a ballad.

Looked to me, said she had fallen in love.

Told me that I made her life valid.

I had no words, so I just gave her a hug.

In a pallid world, she was my sun,

but I was a fool and never saw the smoking gun.

She knew not love and poisoned my heart

with her words as she was lying from the start.
